Working with a variety of subject matter, such as household items, found text,

classical sculpture, logs, and dollar-store ephemera, Hunt manipulates the

appearances and character of ordinary – and not-so-ordinary – objects in order to

create new possibilities for their narrative and formal make-up. Hunt focuses his

work on the simple question: how do things add up? Do things, in fact, add

up?

"Sum of Parts" is an exhibition (opening october 9, 2015) of new paintings,  in which

the mundane intersects with the paranormal to examine the ways in which “things” –

bodies, environments, beliefs and experiences – are informed, constructed, and, at

times, misled by interactions with “other things": plants, pianos, and plastic heads.
