JACINTE ARMSTRONG

Studio Residency & Performances

June 29 to July 11, 2020

K’jipuktuk (Halifax)-based artist Jacinte Armstrong is currently in a two-week studio residency at Hermes Gallery. She is working on several distance collaborations where images and movement are layered across space and time through a mix of high and low tech devices.

Jacinte is also continuing to develop a new solo piece with a wearable textile-sculpture designed by Nancy Price, and will be doing some performances outdoors in front of the gallery (5682 North Street). Jacinte will be inviting other artists to join her in quick, score-based interventions in front of the gallery. Collaborating artists include: Gary Markle (participating in Kinetic Studio’s Partnering Apart program); Dustin Harvey/Secret Theatre; Jo Fong (Halifax and Cardiff, Wales); Katie Ward (Montreal) and Katie Ewald (Guelph).
