In music culture, studio jams are experimental sessions where creative artists noodle about with new ideas. Some will evolve into songs and formalized compositions; others will never have a public face.

In this spirit, HERMES artists were asked to share any of the following about their future projects:

- their conceptual sketches
- studio paste-ups (digital or material)
- physical scraps that relate to process
- digital maps of production pathways
- video sketches
- or ???

This exhibition offers raw and unvarnished glimpses into the production process of artist’s studio practices that are usually hidden from public view – but essential for any project’s future development.

To add further context, each artist will supply a few sentences regarding their practice and what is on display. And what is to follow.

In the spirit of the ‘studio jam’, the exhibiting artists will get together at 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon 19 January to make new collaborative work and chat about connections between their practices. The public is welcome to attend and participate.
